Question 131 – “In the sequence…”

OG Explanation is confusing.    It is easier just to write down the sequence.   We start with x0=0 and we go until xk=15.     0, 3, 6, 9, 12 ,15 – from xk = 15, we must do 3 less than the previous term until we get to 0…..12,9,6,3,0

So the sequence is {0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 12, 9, 6, 3, 0}

Xn is the last term in the sequence.  Starting with the first term as x0 and counting from there, the last term is x10. The answer is D.

OG Explanation is fine.

Question 133 – “If x…”

OG Explanation is fine.

Question 134 – “If d>0…”

OG Explanation is fine.

Question 135 – “In the figure shown …. “

OG Explanation is fine.

Question 136 – “A train travels….”

OG Explanation is fine.

Question 137 – “Last year Manfred…”

OG Explanation is fine.   Notice that this is weighted average problem.   We need to find the weighted average of 6 $750 checks and 20 $780 checks.   Because there is more “weight” on the $780 checks (i.e. 20 > 6), the average must be greater than if there were equal.  If there were equal, then the average would be $765.   So we can eliminate A, B, and C.        The average of 6 $750 checks and 20 $780 checks is the same as 3 $750 checks and 10 $780 checks.   From there, multiply and divide.


Question 138 – “If 25 percent of p…..”

OG Explanation is fine.   You can also pick numbers.   If you let q=100, then 10% of 100 is 10.   Then, p must be 40 since 25% of 40 = 10    p=40  and q=100 so p is 40% of q.

The correct answer is E

Question 139 – “If the length…”

OG Explanation is fine.   Alternatively, you could just pick numbers.   Let cube Y be 1 x 1 x1 and let cube X be a 2 x 2 x 2.   Ratio of volume of Cube X to volume of cube Y is 1 to 8.

Question 140 – “Machines A and B…”

OG Explanation is fine.
